Ben and Ryan milking our new cow, Victoria
The boys built a flower bed for the front of the cabin with recycled sidewalks from Walnut Grove
Here's the flower bed with flowers in it
The mowing is never-ending here at Runnymede. Thankfully, the boys love driving the lawnmowers around. This is Zach mowing yesterday.
Empty garden beds in early Spring...
Starting to look a little more productive on June 1
This is the bottomland garden. The boys have planted corn, beans, watermelon, squash, okra, sunflowers, and over 50 tomato plants. We've had a battle with crows for our corn but the rest of the plants are doing quite well if a bit small right now. Can you see them??
We will now be fighting the weeds for the next few months along with fertilizing, bug-killing, and we pray---harvesting!
This is our winter squash patch down in the bottomland.
The path down to the river
All Winter and early Spring the boys of Runnymede have been clearing the "campground" down by the river. They have cut and cleared TONS of extra brush and small trees to make it a beautiful setting to camp out or just to go have a campfire.
This is the firepit where we have bonfires. We had dinner and a bonfire down here on Memorial Day but...we forgot the camera!
These are some of the 12 turkeys we are raising right now. Zach and Ryan primarily care for these guys. They will be ready to process around July 1st. We plan to build a smoker and smoke a few, too.
This is Puddleglum, our bull. He is responsible for three babies so far this year and we're expecting two more at least. He has served his purpose and will go into the freezer this Summer.
These are our egg-laying chickens. We get about 3 dozen eggs a day!
